Listen to an interview I gave to Melissa Galt of Prosper by Design:
Hello! I am glad you are here.
I am the Owner of SleepWell Sleep Solutions, and a Pediatric Sleep Coach and Certified Greenproofer. I received a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the College of William and Mary and worked at a Montessori school for over eight years working with children ages 3 months to 6 years. Originally from Long Island, I now live in Northern Virginia with my husband, two children, three dogs, 5 chickens, 4 goats, bird, ball python and bearded dragon. (We also have a horse, but he doesn’t live at our house). My children are 11 and 13, and my 9 year old is how I got into this business. He did not sleep through the night until he was over 3 years old (yep, I went through over 3 years of never sleeping through the night!). I decided I didn’t want anyone else to go through that much sleep deprivation!
After deciding I wanted to do something different than working at the preschool, I was trained as a Gentle Sleep Coach by the Sleep Lady®, Kim West, author of several sleep books, including “The Sleep Lady’s Good Night, Sleep Tight”. I have also been trained as a Maternity and Child Sleep Consultant through the International Maternity and Parenting Institute. I love being able to help tired parents create plans that assist their children in getting the sleep they need.
I will work with you to implement a plan that will have your child sleeping. I use various methods to help your child learn how to fall asleep on their own, working with your philosophy to pick the best method for you and your child. I do normally work with gentler methods, but really work with you to create a plan that is most comfortable to you. Some of my clients have co-slept and some are still co-sleeping and want to continue. I will never tell you that you have to do something that doesn’t feel right to you.
In addition, I am also a certified Greenproofer. Having been trained through the International Maternity Institute, I can prepare pre-conceiving, expecting, and new families on how they can prevent exposure from toxic substances that may pose a potential threat to the health of mother and baby in their products, in their food, in their home, and around their environment.
I am also a Happiest Baby on the Block Certified Educator and can conduct private classes or group classes. See http://www.happiestbaby.com/ for more information.
